What is a sworn translation?

The translation of any type of document carried out by a sworn translator who has been officially authorized and recognised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation (MAEC).

When is a sworn translation required?

When a document written in a foreign language is to be submitted before any legal authorities or public/private bodies in Spain (public Administration, police stations, courts, academic institutions, notaries, banks, etc.)

How is a sworn translation validated?

Once the sworn translator has signed and stamped the document, the accuracy of the translation is certified with the same legal validity as the original.
